let's get crunk! ;; remy, hadley

If there was one thing Arizona knew best, it was the fact that alcohol heals all wounds. Figuratively and literally. Tonight she found herself in Earalas. She had heard about what happen to Hadley, and thought maybe Hadley could use a little pick-me-up. Ari had picked up a great smorgasbord of alcohol. Vodka, whiskey, wine coolers, anything and everything. They probably weren't going to drink all of it, but she figured it was good to have choices.

She made her way to his large immaculate home, with the large immaculate door and knocked. She was let inside by a friendly employee of Hadley's and was lead to the livingroom where Hadley was chilling on his couch.

"Hadley!" she said cheerfully. "I'm here!" She made her way to the couch and sat near him. "And I've brought gifts!" She grabbed the first bottle of alcohol she could reach for and set it in his hand.

Hadley didn't know that Arizona was going to show up. If she had sent any kind of letter indicating that she was going to, whoever was currently in charge of reading his mail hadn't told him. Dealing with his staff had been kind of rough lately. Twice now he had overheard debates over whether or not he was faking not being able to see. Remy was really his only staff member who was sympathetic.

So yeah, he was a little surprised at Arizona's distinctively cheerful voice suddenly filling the room, followed by the weight of someone sitting next to him on his couch. He sat up a little straighter, knowing he most likely looked like shit right now. As he was homebound, not expecting any visitors, and not able to look in a mirror, he wasn't really putting any effort into looking nice at the moment.

"Arizona? What are you doing here?" he asked. His question was soon answered when a bottle was pushed into his hand. Knowing Arizona, he didn't have to ask what it was.

Arizona gently patted Hadley's leg. "I'm sorry, Hadley," she said sadly. "I know that's not enough...I can't even begin to imagine what you're going through...but I thought I could at least take your mind off of it for a little while." She grabbed a bag of solo cups and tore it open. She took out two cups and began to fill them with vodka. She created a little concoction, stuck a cup into Hadley's free hand, and ordered him to, "Drink!"

Hadley thought about it for a second. Drinking wasn't really his thing. Unlike the usual brand of mind-altering substances he enjoyed, drinking wasn't any fun to do alone, and in social situations he liked to keep his head clear. But right now, when all he'd been doing lately was a whole lot of nothing but laying around, getting shitfaced with Arizona sounded like a pretty fucking good idea. Besides, this was the first social interaction he'd had with anyone besides Remy since he'd gotten home.

"Cheers," he said with a shrug, downing a decent amount of the drink Arizona had given him without even asking what it was.

Arizona tilted her head back and gulped down her alcohol. She licked her lips as she set her cup down on the coffee table to make another one.

Maybe you should slow down, Hamilton lectured. You know what happens when you drink too fast. He hated when his clio drank, because it also affected him. He hated feeling cloudy and befuddled.

Ari ignored her daemon's protests, telling him that everything would be fine. She made herself another drink, and sucked it back.

About an hour and a few more drinks later, Hadley and Arizona were feeling pretty good. Ari had found herself on the floor, leaning against the couch. She was no longer mixing drinks and was now drinking straight vodka, using a wine cooler as a chaser. "Oh Hadley," she sighed. "...I don't remember!" She threw her head back and laughed.

Hadley wasn't necessarily feeling good, but he was feeling very drunk, and that was close enough. His mind wasn't clear enough to focus on how ruined his life was, and Arizona was actually pretty decent company. At the very least she was better than no company at all.

He was lying on the couch on his back in the most comfortable position he could manage. While it wasn't as good as what he'd been getting in the hospital, Arizona's drinks were also pretty good at dulling his pain. All in all this was a good decision.

"I'm preeeetty sure," Hadley replied slowly, "that you were going to tell me how attractive I am." He paused. That didn't seem right. "Wait. No. I'm thinking of Remy. Never mind." He laughed too, for the first time in a few days.

"Hadley!" Remy called as she walked into the Earalas estate. She had taken up the habit of calling his name whenever she came home so he would know who it was. She'd asked the rest of the staff to do the same whenever they came into a room Hadley was in, but she suspected they didn't actually do it unless Remy was also around. Too big of an opportunity to mess with Hadley as he'd done to them so many times in the past.

She walked towards the living room, where she assumed he would be. He was there most of the time, lately. While she took care of his overloridian stuff because he couldn't read anymore. That reminded her--

"Look Guess what I brought!"

She walked into the room and then never continued because: "Oh, hi Arizona." Great. Just great.

Arizona laughed, reached back and patted Hadley's leg. "You're cute and all," she said. "But you're not really my type." She double fisted her alcohol, and tried pouring both of them into her mouth. It didn't work out quite as planned and she spilt a lot on herself. She was wiping her mouth and face off when Hadley's adviser walked into the room.

"Remy!" she cheered. "Come have a drink with us!"

Hadley had just been talking about Remy, and now she was here! Weird. "Hey Rem!" he greeted, sitting up slightly so that she could come sit on the couch. Arizona had the right idea, inviting her to drink with them. He reached out ahead where he knew the coffee table was and knocked over a mostly full bottle of something or other. "Oops. Shit. Hold on." He managed to grab the bottle and felt around for a cup. Once he found one he poured Remy a drink of whatever it was, spilling a copious amount of it over the rim of the glass.

"Ta da," he said, satisfied, holding the cup out in front of him. When Remy didn't immediately take it from his hand, he helpfully added, "This is for you."

Remy watched the scene develop in front of her. These were the clio that were supposed to be running Amelia? She wanted to laugh.

"So generous," Remy said as she took the cup from Hadley's hands. She sniffed whatever was in the cup and had to stop herself from gagging. How were they drinking this?

"I'm thinking you both may have had a little too much of whatever this is," she told them. She was still holding the bag she'd brought in, so she walked over to the corner and set it on a little table. She'd tell Hadley about it later.

"I am generous," Hadley agreed, leaning back when Remy finally took her drink. Since Remy never sat by him he laid back down, letting his arm hang over the edge of the couch. He hand accidentally brushed against Arizona's leg. "Sorry," he said, pulling it back up. "Gotta be careful. Remy might get jealous if I touch you in front of her."

"Oh oops," Arizona giggled. "I don't want Remy to get mad!" She slowly stood up, her legs wobbly. "Don't worry, Rem!" She slurred, while holding her hands out in surrender. "I won't steal your man!"

Sober Ari wasn't this stupid, but alcohol usually had a way of making the worst, or the best of clio come out. She giggled again, and sat back down on the floor. She tilted her head back, resting it on one of Hadley's legs and groaned. "I'm soooo hungry!"

Remy's face got all crumpled and angry when Hadley mentioned her supposed crush on him. What made her even madder was when Arizona called her "Rem". Exactly one clio called her that, and that was Hadley. Arizona was acting like she was friends with Remy, and that certainly wasn't the case.

"I don't think this needs to go any further," she said, her voice tight. "And if you want something to eat, maybe you ought to go home and find something." She knew, of course, that Arizona couldn't leave like this. Though Adhbhar was the closest eilemaiden to Earalas, it was still all the way on the other side of the mountains.

Oh, and do I have to mention that she didn't like the fact that Arizona's head was now in Hadley's lap? Because she didn't like the fact that Arizona's head was now in Hadley's lap.

"Told you," Hadley mumbled to Arizona, gently nudging her head off his legs. "Does she look mad? She sounds mad."

"And you can stay here!" he added, since Remy was trying to kick Arizona out of his house. "We have food. Just ask kitchen guy...or kitchen lady...or whoever is in the kitchen right now." He slowly pushed himself up and got to his feet, which made his head spin. "Kitchen is, uh, that way. I think." He pointed in a completely random direction. He put his other hand to his head. "Fuck I am dizzy."

Hadley wrote:"Does she look mad? She sounds mad."

"I don't know," Arizona replied. "Maybe, I'm not looking at her." She was actually looking at her, but her drunken mind wasn't processing anything.

Hadley wrote:"And you can stay here!"

"Thank you, Hadley!" She replied obnoxiously. "You're a good guy!" She watched him stand and noticed how wobbly he seemed. "You need to sit back down guy," she said, while standing herself and laughing. "You're gonna fall right over!" She grabbed his arm to steady herself, while trying to steady him at the same time. They were a mess.

"She sounds mad 'cuz she is mad," Vex chirped.

Remy would have kicked him or something but just then the overloridians of the year started losing their balance. Remy rushed over to them and held her arms out to actually steady them.

"Will you both just sit down?" she said angrily, kinda putting pressure on their shoulders so that they would sink back down on the couch. "I'll get you food, just stop making a mess!"

The entire area around the couch was covered in liquor. Sticky, smelly liquor. The carpet, the coffee table. The overloridians themselves.

"Remy," Hadley said in a serious tone of voice, taking her hand from off his shoulder. "Don't leave. Sit with us." He pulled on her arm, trying to get her to sit next to him on the couch. He had completely forgotten that Arizona had asked for food just moments ago and didn't want Remy to leave. She was always leaving! He just wanted her to stay with him.

Hadley pulled Remy down onto the couch. "Hadley!" she groaned, her hand landing on a particularly wet spot of something that had been spilled accidentally onto the fabric.

"Don't ruin my clothes!" she cried, pushing herself back up so that neither Hadley nor Arizona could spill their drinks on her. The mess in the living room she could live with--someone else would be cleaning that up. A mess on her beautiful and well thought out outfit? Nuh uh.

As Arizona was forced to sit back down, she watched the scene between Hadley and Remy unfold. She smiled dumbly at them and laughed. "You don't ruin a girls clothes, Hadley," she lectured. Even though she herself was covered in alcohol. Her shirt was soaked from when she tried to guzzle down two bottles at once. Oh well.

"You know," she said thoughtfully. "You two would make a cute couple!"

Hadley frowned with disappointment when Remy just got right back up off the couch. He certainly didn't care about Remy's outfit. He just wanted her to sit with them! Or more specifically, with him. "Your clothes are fine," he said irritably, as if he knew.

Arizona wrote:"You know," she said thoughtfully. "You two would make a cute couple!"

"Remy thinks so, too," Hadley said. He reached out to grab Remy's arm again but missed. Giving up, he just laid down in the spot she would have been sitting in and closed his eyes. Even laying down everything felt like it was spinning. So dizzy. "Sadly it could never work out between us."

Remy scowled at the pair of overloridians. "I've had it with you two," she said, matching Hadley's irritation. As if Hadley had a right to be irritated with her.

"You can continue to make fools of yourselves," she told them, smoothing out her skirt. She chose to ignore Hadley's comments because if she responded she knew she would get flustered. Not that it mattered. Who knew if these guys would even remember this tomorrow. "I'll be in the kitchen getting myself a snack."

"Let me come with you!" Ari said while clumsily jumping off the couch. "I want a snack too!" She stumbled after Remy, completely ignoring, or maybe oblvious to the fact that Remy was irritated with her.

What? Now they were both leaving! Why was everyone leaving? "Wait, wait!" he called out, forcing himself back up off the couch and onto unsteady feet. He took a few hesitant steps in the direction he was pretty sure their voices were coming from. It would be a lot fucking easier if the goddamned room would stop spinning.

"The point of my leaving the room was so that I wouldn't have to listen to you anymore," Remy protested, not hiding the irritation in her voice. She stared blankly as Arizona got up to follow her.

Hadley, of course, was another story. In addition to being intoxicated, his new-found blindness wasn't helping him stay steady on his feet at all.

"Ugh, Hadley," she cried, crossing the room quickly so that she could grab his arm to steady him. She sighed as she realized there was no escaping. It was time for a field trip to the kitchen. Joy.

"It's this way," she instructed him, guiding him so that he was going in the right direction. Arizona had already disappeared, and Remy could hear her rummaging through the cupboards.

Arizona wasn't paying attention to the two other clio behind her. She started rummaging through the cupboards, hoping to find cookies or something. Maybe Hadley had the ingredients to make a pizza, that sounded pretty good! "Remy! Hadley!" She called from the kitchen. "Help me!"
